Description
arplasticTM is a cold applied bituminous caulking compound with mineral fillers in a volatile solvent to retain its plasticity. It is available in a putty form. TarplasticTM remains plastic for a considerable length of time. The skin and interior harden to some extent after application.

Leakage in these types of roofs are from overlapping joints and from holding bolts. To overcome this, the following is recommended:
Tiled Roofs:
TarplasticTM can be used to fully plug the gaps in tiles formed due to sagging of the battens or any other reasons.
Terraced Roofs:
If the roof has developed cracks, but otherwise is in a good condition, the following is recommended:

- It is ideal for use in conditions where a certain degree of expansion, contraction and vibration is expected. It can also be used for very minor cracks/gaps etc. For example, around J hooks used for fixing AC / CGI sheets.

Application Methodology:

Leakage in these types of roofs are from overlapping joints and from holding bolts. To overcome this, the following is recommended:
- TarplasticTM should be applied into the overlapping joints with a knife or spatula. Rusted joints should be cleaned and painted before caulking is done.
- The top of the holding bolts should be covered with TarplasticTM and a limpet washer fixed as cover.
Tiled Roofs:
TarplasticTM can be used to fully plug the gaps in tiles formed due to sagging of the battens or any other reasons.
Terraced Roofs:
If the roof has developed cracks, but otherwise is in a good condition, the following is recommended:
- Locate the cracks and then widen them to a V section about 25 mm deep.
- Brush out the debris from the crack and dust it clean.
- Paint the cracks lightly with ShaliTex® Primer.
- Press TarplasticTM into the painted crack by hand or with a trowel and finish by making a rounded head overlapping the crack by at least 25 mm on either side.
